Mobile Mapping
Mobile
Mapping Systems are the combination of various navigation and
remote sensing technologies on a common moving platform.
They can provide fast, efficient,
and complete data collection. There are often three main components in MMS: positioning
system, camera(s) and LIDAR. The positioning is done through GPS/GNSS and
inertial measurement units. By using these systems, the data can be recorded
continuously and accurately. By using the technology huge data can be taken
very fast. The collected data will be processed with sophisticated software.
The MMS mainly using to do the survey for Entire Cities, Highway Network,
Railway corridors, Utility corridors and large plots. Using the MMS has been
changed all the aspects of traditional mapping and survey.
3D Laser Scanning
3D laser scanning is an advanced technology that digitally captures the
movements of the physical object using the laser light. In simple words it
helps to copy the gestures of a living thing and to visualize it on a 3D
pictures. It scans and captures every finite movement of the figure and make it
look realistic on the screen.
It is often used in industries like Architectural, infrastructure, logistics and media.
3D Laser scanning captures all the digital information about the shape of an object with
equipment that uses a laser to measure the distance between the scanner and the
object. lasers to capture the geometric properties of an object and then fuse,
optimize, and texturize that data. The data basically point cloud which have
East-North-Elevation properties. The scanning can capture huge data with a
short-term effort.
Drone Mapping
A drone survey refers to the use of a drone, or
unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), to capture aerial data with downward-facing
sensors, such as RGB or multispectral cameras, and LIDAR pay- loads. Aerial
survey using by drone is a method of collecting geomatics data and other
information on many things not visible from the ground. Capturing topographic
data with a drone is up to five times faster than with land-based methods and
requires less manpower.
GPS Survey
Global Positioning System is the sophisticated
survey technology, it is an easy survey method while compared with Total
Station where man can access. The GPS is able to receive signals from satellites
and from its base same time. GPS is a highly accurate navigation system using
signals from satellites to determine a location on the Earth’s surface,
irrespective of weather conditions.
It depends on GPS satellites high above the Earth
which transmit signals containing the time and location of the satellite. Any
ground-based receiver which receives signals from four or more GPS satellites
can use navigation equations to calculate its location on the Earth’s surface.
Constant signalling can then update speed and direction information for moving
receivers.
